Mr. Turkey Bowl

Every year on Thanksgiving morning, my husband plays in a flag football game that is organized by my brother-in-law, Adam. Adam puts a lot of work into it and it's a really fun event for the boys. Everyone dresses up in costumes (Louie was the cowboy from the Village People) and the teams receive bonus points for number of beers enjoyed during the game. Louie's sister, Missy, is the bartender and she makes an excellent bloody mary. You can't really see the costumes in the photo, so I'll tell you that there were two bumblebees, a beverage consultant (he had business cards with his name "Al Kahaullic" and you could rent him as a drinking buddy by the hour), a baby, a cheerleader, a love doctor, Tom Cruise from Risky Business, Paul Bunyon, Lance Armstrong, Nacho Libre, and the guys from Brokeback Mountain (just to name a few).

Yesterday was the 7th annual Turkey Bowl and my husband won the honor of Mr. Turkey Bowl, which comes with a very large trophy (complete with a football and beer tap) that you keep for a year and then pass on to the next Mr. Turkey Bowl. We've been in negotiations for the past 24 hours about where the trophy should reside. Let's just say we are not exactly in agreement.

After the game, we went to Louie's aunt and uncle's house. We had yummy meal and a very nice time.

The only thing missing from our Thanksgiving festivities were our two beautiful babies. On a day meant for giving thanks, it was very hard to be away from them. We called them earlier this week and told Rosita and Fulvia all about Thanksgiving and that we give thanks for our little angels and for Rosita and Fulvia's love and kindness everyday, but especially on Thanksgiving. Rosita is so sweet and she said that they would give thanks for us on Thursday, too.
