Buenas noches!

i got a call at 10:25 tonight. no one ever calls us that late, so i was a little worried. it was fulvia, rosita's daughter-in-law. as soon as she said her name, i freaked out and thought something was wrong since they've never called us before. but, she quickly told me that catalina just wanted to say goodnight to her mami and papi. cati got on the phone and said she loved us and good night and some other sleepy, little things. even though she wasn't super-talkative, she also did not want to get off the phone with us. in fact, she cried and cried when they took the phone from her. she was so tired...the kind of tired during which nothing would have satisfied her. that kind of three-year-old fit might sound dreadful to some, but i would give anything to witness those fits morning, noon, and night, every day of my life.

that call was the very nicest surprise and both louie and i were just giddy after hanging up! in fact, i can't sleep now. i'm too wound up after hearing her precious, little voice and hearing perfect, little gus fussing in the background. at least i'll go to sleep tonight (eventually) with those sweet sounds in my ears.
