Our call

We tried to call Cati and Rosita yesterday, but they weren’t home. We wound up talking with them this afternoon. Louie’s colleague, Letty, translated for us because Rosita talks really fast. It’s so helpful to have Letty there. We are getting spoiled. I wish we could take her along for our next trip!

Rosita said that the kids are well and as beautiful as ever! Both are growing, but Gus needs to gain more weight. When we told Rosita that we can’t thank her enough for all that she does for the kids, Rosita said that the greatest thanks is knowing that Cati and Gustavo have found the perfect parents for them and knowing that we love them so well. Rosita says that Cati loves the photo album that we sent her so much that she carries it everywhere with her. She shows everyone the pictures and says that this is her Mama and her Papa and that she loves us. Letty asked her if Cati had figured out how to play the messages we recorded in the album and Rosita laughed and emphatically said “Yes! She plays it and plays it and plays it and plays it all the time!”

We talked to Cati and she was just precious! We asked her how she and Gustavo are. She said they are very well. She said that she plays with games and toys with Gustavito (that’s what she calls him, Little Gustavo). She said she loved us very much over and over again. She also said that she’s coming to the United States and that she’s excited about it. Letty told her about all the toys that we have for her at her new house and that we have two dogs. Cati said she already knew that (about the dogs)! Louie asked her “What do dogs say?” and when she didn’t answer, he barked a few times and Catalina cracked up laughing. Oh, apparently she was eating when we called, so she told us about what she was eating…shrimp, French fries, bread with butter, and macaroni. She also told us we could have some, too!!

We talked to Rosita one more time. She told us that yesterday they were supposed to go to court and meet the birthmother so that she could sign a power of attorney for the final adoption deed. The birthmom didn’t show up or showed up late, so now they have to go back again next Tuesday. We are going to call Tuesday afternoon to check on how things went. Letty told her that we are hoping and praying to come and get the children soon and Rosita said, “We are waiting with open arms.” (sigh)
