Memorial Weekend

Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend. Ours was good. Friday night was fun...we went out for pizza to this yummy place near our house, then took the kids to our cute, little neighborhood park. We love it even more because there's a dog park next door.

Catalina had a great time and is, as it turns out, quite the little rockclimber!

Our unpacking is slow-going. It is virtually impossible to get anything done during the week. Louie's parents came over on Saturday to help with the kids so that we could unpack. It was a huge help! Here's a photo of Abuela Glo and Cati playing drive-through window (as in, McDonalds or Burger King) with a moving box!

Doc was under-the-weather this weekend, but woke up Monday with tons of energy. We decided to take everyone (kids & dogs) to the park. All of Doc's energy proved to be unfortunate for the other dogs just trying to enjoy a day at the park...Doc tried to play (i.e., fight) with every one of them. German Shorthaired Pointers are really great family dogs. But, they are really high-energy and if they don't get enough exercise and attention, it shows. There were two other GSPs at the dog park. Their owner and Louie took turns apologizing to each other and the rest of the dog owners for their wild behavior.

Here's a picture of our sweet Doc napping with Cati. It was her first intentional nap since she came home. The only way I could get her to sleep was to tell her that Doc would nap with her. He's always in the mood to cuddle, so it works out perfectly.

A few pictures from trip #2 to the park. It was Gus's first time on the swings. He had just woken up from a nap, so it was hard to tell if he liked it.

Looks like you guys had a great time. I love the picture of Doc and Cati. Not being a Mommy myself I relate more to the dog stories! My German Shorthair is very high energy also. We stopped going to the dog park because her playing is ONLY fighting with other dogs. I know all about apologizing to everyone else there. We go on very long walks now, on a leash and on a trail where there aren't many other dogs. It saves everybody lots of stress!

WOw - looks like you guys are settling in well! Trips to the park are great. We have started getting our daily walk in and it is great. I can't wait till the kids can actually play at the park. So glad you have had so much help during the move. It must be insane trying to get all that organized and keep up with the kiddos. Thanks for the support on Parker's stuff! I really appreciate it.
