First off, it appears that the Ortega law with amendments has passed in Guatemala allowing the country to comply with the Hague convention and US requirements next year. The law appears to allow for all current, in-process adoptions to continue as before. Our agency seems to be much more 'on top of things' than they were last time and I have been pleased with the communications we have received. If you'd like to read more about the law that was passed, you can go to the AP report here.
The second bit of news is that we found out yesterday that Max's first DNA test (there are 2 required by the U.S.) has been authorized and now they are waiting for a fax from LabCorp that the specimens have been received. This is great news! I'm so out of the loop that I don't even know when the second DNA test occurs in the process (the second one has been added to the process since we last went through this). If anyone reading this post knows, please let me know. UPDATE: Thanks, Steph!! She said, "The 2nd DNA is at the end of the process - only on Max- after you get 'orange.' First you get orange, then 2nd DNA, results back to the Embassy then you get 'e-pink' (these are both new). Then your appointment!"

Yeah Abby - sounds like things are moving in the right direction! That is so exciting. We are praying for Max's speedy delivery.
